I'd say the best is Ride The Lightning, my favourite is Kill 'Em All and most overatted but still good are Metallica & Master Of Puppets.
Wot ones you got?

Personally I'd avoid Load/Reload, give priority to the first four studio albums, Garage Inc., Live Shit DVD & S&M.

Kill 'Em All isn't perfect, but it's probably got the best raw musicianship, and is thus my choice. Just ahead of Puppets, the over-rated Lightning, and badly-produced Justice. The rest of them suck, for the main.

My favourite changes but currently it is the Black Album. If you are going to listen to this album don't do it on little earphones. You must listen on a proper stero with the volume up or alternativly large headphones/studio headphones. The production is just amazing but you have to listen to it with the right stuff to get the full benifit. I think it's a fucking brilliant album from Sandman to amazing Through The Never it's brillaint, epic and on the right system LOUD!

In future I may invest in a good pair of headphones, since I use them all the time on the computer plus a good set can just be as good as listening to music with a good set of speakers. As for Metallica the album, most of it isn't that great, it sounds tired and uninspired in places but the production is crisp I'll admit.
