If you haven't already, try the works of Symphony X. 'The Odyssey' is a rather spiffing album, and having seen them supprting Stratovarius in London, I can gleefully boast that they can do the business live aswell.

You joined us Scorge! ;D
Yeh I downloaded some Symphony X tracks, some from The Odyssey if I recall and they are good! (Me finks I'll put it on me christmas list!).
I think you may like Marillion Scorge, and definately some Rush. The trouble with Rush is they are so varied. Hard Rock/Prog in the 70's, keyboard mad with prog flourishes in the 80's and more guitar orietated once more in the 90's!

Marillion and Rush are both bands I'd file under 'good, but not pant-wettingly brilliant'. My olds have a couple of albums by each on vinyl, which do get dug up from time to time.
Symphony X, however, are moist of the highest order. Yus.

Kool.
Family wise my Uncle is a big Yes fan. My dad has the odd Proggy stuff. He had Close To The Edge by Yes which I listened to and thought was brilliant and the same with Clutching At Straws by Marillion. He's seen Emerson Lake & Palmer too!
